Explanation

Kwanzaa honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually held on the 6th day.

Applications

It includes activities such as the lighting of the kinara and libations, and culminates in a feast and gift-giving.

Kwanzaa features seven core principles (Nguzo Saba).

It was created by Maulana Karenga and first celebrated in 1966.
